Job Overview

The role of the Pig Development and Husbandry Specialist involves working in a modern, fully integrated research facility with a focus on pig rearing and associated functions. The appointee will be required to work in all animal sections within the unit, ensuring attention to detail is maintained at all times.


Key Responsibilities

* Operate all aspects of pig rearing and associated functions within the research facility
* Maintain strong focus on accurate record keeping, systems management and unit hygiene
* Meet production targets and adhere to research programme protocols
* Manage and care for piglets, weaners and finisher pigs – including procedures, animal movement and flow, regular weighing and power washing

Record farm data and ensure compliance with DAFM, Bord Bia and HPRA requirements. Maintain strict adherence to farm Bio-Security measures and ensure a clean working environment.


Requirements

Strong organizational and time management skills are essential for this role. The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
