Overview
A leading chilled food manufacturer is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to oversee all aspects of food safety, product quality, and compliance on site. This is a key role within a fast-paced chilled environment, offering excellent progression for someone looking to step into senior technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Food Safety
Lead the Quality and QA teams to ensure the highest standards of chilled product safety, legality, and quality.
Manage and maintain the site’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring full compliance with BRCGS standards and customer Codes of Practice.
Oversee HACCP, allergen management, traceability, and chilled-chain controls.
Carry out internal audits and support the site through customer and third-party audits.
Operational Support
Work closely with Production, Hygiene, and Technical teams to maintain high-care and chilled-area standards.
Monitor product quality across intake, processing, and finished product dispatch.
Ensure GMP, hygiene, and temperature control standards consistently met.
Lead investigations into non-conformances, customer complaints, and root cause analysis.
Documentation & Specifications
Maintain accurate technical documentation, SOPs, and product specifications.
Review quality records, CCP monitoring, and production paperwork to ensure compliance.
Customer & Supplier Engagement
Support customer audits, product quality reviews, and technical visits.
Participate in supplier approval, raw material checks, and ingredient risk assessments.
Team Leadership
Manage, train, and develop QA staff to ensure a high-performing and knowledgeable technical team.
Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and proactive quality management.
Required Experience
3+ years' experience in QA or Quality Management within chilled food manufacturing
Strong understanding of BRCGS, HACCP (Level 3 or 4), GMP, and EU food legislation.
Experience preparing for and managing audits.
Strong communication skills and ability to influence across teams.
Desirable
Experience in chilled or value-added manufacturing.
Background supporting NPD or product launches.
Degree in Food Science or related field.
