In this role, you will act as a key technical leader, independently managing complex, long-duration projects and product improvement for medical devices.. You will balance hands-on experimental design with high-level stakeholder management, ensuring all innovations align with target product profiles and regulatory requirements.ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Management: Independently manage cross-functional stakeholders to ensure project alignment; prioritize activities to meet technical goals and timely completion of product milestones.Assay Design & Optimization: Conceive, design, and coordinate advanced studies in molecular biology and protein chemistry; optimize assay conditions and improve product design using DOE (Design of Experiments) where appropriate.Technical Troubleshooting & Innovation: Anticipate and resolve complex technical problems; identify opportunities for product enhancements and perform root-cause investigations into technical issues.Regulatory & Quality Compliance: Maintain the effectiveness of the quality system; adhere to strict design control procedures and ensure all development activities meet global regulatory guidelines.Technical Subject Matter Expertise (SME): Provide technical direction across multiple sites in the area of lateral flow and IVD devices; stay current with industry literature and emerging technologies.Team Mentorship & Coaching: Act as a lead scientist by providing training, coaching, and study design assistance to lower-level scientists and research teams.Data Analysis & Communication: Analyze data from multiple experiments to formulate conclusions; prepare technical reports and present findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and external partners (third-level institutions, suppliers, and Key Opinion Leaders).ExperienceEducational Background: Ph.D. with 5+ years of research experience, or a B.S./M.S. with 10+ years of industrial experience in a related scientific field.Industry Experience: 10+ years in IVD / assay development and biologics with a strong molecular and biochemical background.Technical Expertise: Proven expertise in the design and optimization of serological diagnostic tests and protein expression techniques.Analytical Skills: Advanced skills in statistical analysis and quantitative problem-solving; experience using industry-accepted tools to resolve complex technical challenges.Leadership Style: A collaborative leader who acts with integrity, manages diverse relationships effectively, and remains transparent in a fast-paced environment.Adaptability: Proven ability to adjust to changing priorities and take on new, challenging assignments in a dynamic R&D setting.To discover more about this opportunity please apply online or contact Lewis Murray on for a confidential discussion.
