Role/ Department
As the Pre-Approval Controlled Functions ("PCF") Chief Operating Officer (PCF-42), subject to Central Bank of Ireland approval, the individual will be responsible for managing the operations of the Banking and Markets activities for the Northern Trust Company Ireland Branch ("TNTC-IB"). Subject to CBI authorisation
Job Description
Execute the day-to-day Chief Operating Officer ("COO") responsibilities for TNTC-IB in accordance with the PCF-42 Statements of Responsibilities.
This role is a varied role encompassing the ongoing assessment of the end-to-end operating and resiliency environment and oversight of key initiatives and projects.
The COO will work with the wider leadership team and the Branch Manager to identify, communicate and implement business priorities.
Responsible for the oversight of transactional banking services and the provision of multi-currency accounts in support of streamlined cash management for managing payments, receipts and deposit balances.
Responsible for the oversight of the lending / credit facilities which assist qualified clients with short-term cashflow needs, longer-term financing, liquidity to fund day-to-day operations and more.
Responsible for agency securities lending offerings, ensuring oversight is in place with respect to clients domiciled in Ireland who have access to Northern Trust’s global network of borrower organizations and flexible lending options.
Responsible for the oversight of the FX trading solutions and associated activities
Responsible for the oversight to the sponsored repurchase agreement market with Fixed Income Clearing Corporation.
Responsible for overseeing transition management services to clients ensuring coordination across all the key parties involved to determine the best course of action for a successful implementation
The COO will partner and collaborate with the 1st line of defence and 2nd line of defence areas to ensure adherence to operational, regulatory and corporate guidelines, policies and procedures.
Enhance and maintain the process for ensuring clear evidence of challenge, review and decisions for the key operational functions.
Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and actionable reporting to senior leadership and governance committees.
Oversight of management information and reporting, ensuring relevance to the business environment and governance including changing regulatory requirements.
Maintain a good level of knowledge of risk and regulatory environment applicable to the business, collaborating with Risk and Compliance with a view to ensuring adequate systems and controls are in place such that all relevant functions comply with all legal and statutory requirements applicable.
Overseeing and sponsoring (where appropriate) key initiatives including business and regulatory change.
Participate in development of strategic plans, goals and priorities based on the direction set for the business.
Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment which encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.
Acts as a representative for the corporation during regulatory, audits/examinations.
Provides required documentation and responses to questions.

Experience
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to positively influence all levels of personnel, including senior leadership.
Detailed experience in financial services industry, including regulatory and banking experience.
Self-motivated with strong collaboration and influencing skills.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change; comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.
Excellent critical and creative thinking, decision-making and innovative problem-solving skill.

Note: This role will be subject to the Senior Executive Accountability Regime (SEAR), which imposes a legal Duty of Responsibility on persons carrying out this Pre-Approval Controlled Function (PCF) role.
