SDCC is an equal opportunities employer. This role is within the Planning and Transportation Directorate and may be based in any location within the South Dublin administrative area.
Key Responsibilities
* Creation and maintenance of spatial datasets using ArcGIS including GIS dataset validation and data entry.
* Manipulate, assess and present statistical and geographic information.
* Produce custom mapping, thematic charts and graphs.
* Maintain and update existing maps and GIS datasets.
* Carry out surveys, where required, to capture, record and map data in relation to the functions of the Land Use, Planning and Transportation Directorate.
* Provide reports on land use, planning and transportation statistics.
* Support the engineering team with the operation, maintenance and delivery of the transport infrastructure across the County.
* Support the planning team in the assessment of planning applications, preparation of planning documents and planning enforcement work.
* Assist in the roll out of e‑Planning with the Local Authority.
* Ability to deliver own objective and work to agreed timescales.
* Any other GIS related duties which may be assigned.
Qualifications
* Good character.
* State of health enabling efficient service.
* Hold a National Certificate Final Examination in Civil Engineering, Geo‑surveying, Construction Studies or equivalent GIS qualification and at least three years relevant experience.
* Desirable: proficient in GIS, good professional knowledge and skills, independent work, initiative, inter‑personal skills, organisational skills, background in construction/building services, IT skills, driving licence Category B.
Salary and Hours
Salary: €48,760 – €56,037 (1st LS1) – €57,790 (2nd LSI).
Hours: 35 hours per week. Annual leave entitlement: 30 days.
