Overview
The Finance Manager will support the financial decision-making process by collecting, checking, analysing, investigating, and reporting financial data. They will be responsible for the production of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Responsibilities
* Financial Accounting and Reporting: prepare quarterly management accounts for CFO review, maintain and develop accounting systems (including the nominal ledger), ensure accuracy of financial data through regular reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis, oversee ledger inputs and coding across payroll and procurement systems, and provide financial analysis to support CFO decision‑making.
* Financial reporting and funder requirements: prepare and submit financial reporting returns as required by funders (e.g., HSE Pobal and other grant bodies) and manage VAT and RCT returns to Revenue.
* Annual Audit: prepare annual accounts for statutory entities, liaise with auditors, and provide requested information.
* Budgeting: prepare annual balanced budgets in consultation with the Chief Financial Officer.
* Cash Flow and Working Capital Management: oversee bank reconciliations and daily cash application, analyze payroll/labour against budget, manage payroll deductions, and ensure timely collection of receivables from various funding sources and income streams.
* Capital and Project Oversight: review capital spending and project completion status with the CFO.
* Other Duties: back‑up accounts functions, participate in special projects, liaise with IT regarding DMS and Time Management System, arrange payments, and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of financial regulations.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
* Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CPA)
* Audit preparation experience
* Extensive experience with nominal ledger accounting and Irish GAAP
* Knowledge of Sage 50 or similar accounting system
* Knowledge of ROS (Revenue Online System) and IBB (AIB Internet Banking)
* Strong Excel and analytical skills with attention to detail
* Experience with process improvement or change management is beneficial
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Good organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
* Ideally 3+ years post‑qualification experience
* Prior management or team leadership experience is desirable
