Assoc Research Scientist (Technical Lead), Cell & Molecular Biology – Athlone, Ireland
Work schedule: Standard (Mon‑Fri).
Environmental conditions: Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards.
Location/Division: Join our Cell Lab team in Ireland, dedicated to advancing science and technology.
As an Associate Research Scientist you will be responsible for the regulatory and scientific conduct of development, validation, stability projects, and other specialty technologies. In this role you will perform troubleshooting on multiple analytical techniques, calculate and interpret data, and record data in adherence to PPD SOPs and any additional requirements specific to the lab and/or client.
The Associate Research Scientist routinely acts as the technical project leader for multiple projects, interacts with clients on a weekly basis to provide updates, review and evaluate data, and write reports and protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Independently perform analytical testing, method optimisation/validation, and other specialty technology studies or method transfers for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds.
Design and execute experiments independently.
Review and critique study protocols, project status reports, final study reports, and other project‑related technical documents.
Communicate data and technical issues to clients on a weekly basis (or as needed).
Provide technical guidance and training to staff.
Lead analytical (procedural and instrumental) troubleshooting sessions.
Assist in preparation and implementation of SOPs and quality systems.
Review, interpret, and analyse data for technical, quality and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria, and GMP or GLP. Perform self and peer review of the data for accuracy and compliance prior to submission to QA and issuance to customers.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
Previous experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 6+ years). In some cases an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient.

Demonstrated experience with method development and validation, cell‑based assays and experience in molecular biology preferable.
Ability to independently perform root cause analysis for method investigations.
Proficiency on technical operating systems.
Proven problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Proven ability in technical writing skills.
Time management and project management skills.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to train junior staff.
