Customers can set up a new database with just a few clicks, and complex administrative tasks like scaling, fail-over, and monitoring are all handled in an automated fashion by our control systems.Aurora and RDS Console is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC) which provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. Key job responsibilities As a Senior front end development engineer in the RDS Console team in Dublin, you will lead the technical efforts of our team, mentor and help shape the technical expertise of your colleagues and get to design, develop and deploy quality solutions that help external and internal customers interface with the RDS service at scale.Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. We are co-located in the Dublin offices. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm and provide flexibility for people to structure their working hours around them.The position involves Mentoring, Technical Leadership, Hands-on Work and On-call responsibilities, typically once every 4 to 5 weeks. About the teamThe RDS Console team owns the console end-to-end and supports all service teams within RDS and Aurora, including: Aurora MySQL and Aurora PostgreSQLOpen-Source solutions like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MariaDBCommercial engines like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and IBM.At any given point in time, the RDS Console team is supporting features of various sizes in different stages of their lifecycle, such as requirements/UX design, development, testing, and launch.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSExperience with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and NodeExperience building web applications with React and modern web technologiesExperience with AWS or cloud technologiesExperience mentoring or training the engineering community on complex technical issuesStrong knowledge of state management patterns, RESTful APIs, and modern build tools (Webpack, Vite, or similar) is essential.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of relations databases (MySQL) and SQL querying toolsAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
