Role Description: Board Director/Member

Purpose of the Role
As a Board Member, you will contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and oversight of the Youth Education and Training Centre. Your role is to ensure the organisation remains focused on its mission to empower young people through quality education, training, and development opportunities. Board members are collectively responsible for ensuring legal and ethical integrity and for supporting leadership in building a sustainable and impactful organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Oversight: Participate in setting and reviewing the strategic goals and direction of the Centre.
* Governance and Compliance: Ensure the organisation complies with legal and regulatory requirements and maintains high standards of governance.
* Financial Stewardship: Monitor financial performance and sustainability, reviewing budgets and expectation of funders
* Advocacy and Representation: Act as an ambassador for the Centre, promoting its mission and enhancing its visibility and reputation in the community.
* Support to Management: Provide guidance, expertise, and support to Directors/ General Manager and staff.
* Risk Management: Oversee the assessment and management of organisational risks.
* Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly assess organisational performance against goals and contribute to continuous improvement.
Time Commitment
* Attend monthly board meetings (typically [1/1.5] hours per meeting).
* Participate in committee work as required.
* Attend strategic planning sessions, fundraising events, and stakeholder engagements where relevant.
Skills and Qualifications
* Experience or strong interest in youth education, vocational training, community development, or non-profit governance.
* Strategic thinking, sound judgment, and collaborative leadership.
* Financial literacy and understanding of organisational governance (desirable).
* Willingness to contribute time, knowledge, and networks to advance the Centre’s mission.
