About the Role
The Senior Executive Engineer will lead a team or teams and provide technical and managerial support across service areas, liaise with external agencies, and support the democratic process.
Responsibilities include reporting to the appropriate line manager, assisting the management team as required, dealing with elected members of the County, attending full Council and Municipal District meetings, and deputising for the Senior Engineer when necessary.
They will manage staff, oversee the work programme of the assigned directorates/department, and collaborate closely with elected members to deliver services and implement local policy decisions, operating in an environment of limited resources.
They are expected to deliver efficient services with a focus on value for money.
About You
Strong track record and relevant management experience, including change management and project management.
Understanding of line manager duties and ability to work through structures to achieve objectives across sections and teams.
Outward-looking perspective and successful inter‑agency collaboration and coordination.
Capacity to work within and lead multidisciplinary teams, motivating and empowering staff to achieve performance while maintaining good employee relations.
Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, property owners, the public and the media.
Development and implementation of processes/systems, setting targets, and coordinating resources to deliver tasks within a budgetary control framework.
Good working knowledge (or ability to acquire quickly) of the legal, regulatory and governance framework within which the council operates, and experience in adhering to corporate policies, protocols and procedures.
Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and its application within the fire service.
Preparation of reports for submission to statutory agencies and other bodies where required.
