Job Role Overview:
This Bookkeeper position offers an exciting opportunity to work with clients across various sectors, managing their daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping tasks. You will be responsible for preparing and submitting VAT returns, performing bank reconciliations, and maintaining financial records using platforms such as Surf, Sage, Quick Books, and Xero.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage client portfolios and ensure timely completion of tasks
* Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns and perform regular bank reconciliations
* Maintain up-to-date financial records using multiple accounting software
* Process payroll for clients using Thesaurus or Bright Pay
* Ensure all submissions meet Revenue deadlines and compliance standards
* Communicate effectively with clients to gather information and resolve queries professionally
* Support the wider team with year-end payroll and financial reporting
Senior Role Accountabilities:
* Lead complex or high-volume client portfolios and review junior team members' work
* Provide guidance and training to junior staff and flag client or compliance issues for escalation
* Assist in refining internal systems and quality control processes
Requirements:
* Junior Bookkeeper: 12 years' experience in a bookkeeping or payroll support role, strong Excel skills, and proficiency in multiple accounting software
* Senior Bookkeeper: 35 years' experience in a practice-based bookkeeping or payroll role, advanced Excel capabilities, and analytical skills
