Munster Technological University (MTU) is a multi-campus technological university, contributing to the region through the provision of academic programmes that support student development and opportunities, education and research.
MTU has an extensive and impressive regional footprint with six campuses across the South-West region in Cork and Kerry, and a student body of 18,000.
MTU wishes to appoint a Technical Officer (TO) to join the Marketing and Communications Unit to support and maintain the universitys websites and digital services, which are the gateway for information about MTU for prospective and current students, research, industry, staff and visitors.
The Technical Officer will work with the Senior Technical Officer (STO) and Website Maintenance Officer in the support and development of website and digital projects aligned with the universitys strategy.
The position can be based in the Cork or Kerry Campus and the appointee will report for day to day operations to the Senior Technical Officer, Marketing and Communications Unit.
This line management arrangement may be amended as MTUs organisational structure evolves over time.
Please note the postholder may be required to travel between MTU Campus locations.
Duties and responsibilities of the position: The Technical Officer (TO), based in the Marketing and Communications Unit, will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the university's web and digital presence.
This role demands a high level of Content Management System (CMS) Expertise, encompassing administration, user management, and troubleshooting of enterprise-grade CMS platforms.
The TO will be responsible for creating, editing, and publishing high-quality, accurate, and brand compliant content across university websites and digital platforms.
A strong understanding of Accessibility Compliance (WCAG) is essential, as is a Meticulous approach to Content Auditing to maintain quality and adherence to standards.
The TO will also manage support requests via the Marketing and Communications Unit online Helpdesk Support platform, providing timely and effective solutions.
Utilising Website Analytics, they will monitor performance, generate reports, and provide insights for strategic improvements.
Providing Training and Support to university staff on the website and digital systems used by the Marketing and Communications Unit, and maintaining thorough documentation of processes and policies, are also crucial.
Basic Project Management skills will be used to assist in the execution of website and digital projects.
Qualification Requirements for Role: Essential: A relevant Level 8 degree (1st or 2nd Class Honours) from a recognised degree-awarding authority in the area of computer science, creative digital media, or a cognate discipline.
AND Not less than three years of relevant post-qualification experience.
Desirable: The candidate should have demonstrated, recent and hands-on experience in some or all of the following areas: i Website design and development ii Website and digital content management iii Provision of training and documentation for web/digital services iv Website requirements analysis and reporting v Understanding of the latest website and digital trends and developments vi Digital marketing activity and reporting Important Notes: Screening and short-listing only takes place on the basis of information submitted on the application.
In addition to the minimum criteria, it may be necessary to introduce further shortlisting criteria.
