Job Summary:
A legal secretary is required to support a busy law firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing legal documents, accompanying solicitors to court, and managing the office.
Responsibilities:
* Produce high-quality legal documents, including court papers, contracts, and wills.
* Accompany solicitors to police cells or the courtroom as required.
* Answer all telephone calls in a professional manner.
* Manage petty cash and maintain accurate records of costs.
* Make appointments for the employer and schedule court depositions, hearings, and other meetings.
* Use the in-house database to store and retrieve client information.
* Filing documents with the court accurately and ahead of deadlines.
* Transcribe and proofread legal documents with attention to detail.
Qualifications:
* Minimum 2 years' experience as a paralegal or legal secretary.
* Familiarity with legal documents and terminology.
* Working knowledge of litigation management software systems.
* Ability to type at a speed of at least 50 wpm with high accuracy.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
* Able to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
This is an initial maternity leave position, expected to last a minimum of 8 months.
