Senior Project Engineer – Connection Projects Southern Region
We are at the heart of Ireland’s energy transition, connecting and transforming the electricity grid to support a low‑carbon, renewable future. We are looking for Senior Project Engineers to join our Connection Projects (Southern Region) team in our new Cork office.
Role Overview
As a Senior Project Engineer you will project manage a portfolio of customer projects, ensuring that appropriate project controls are in place across budgets, schedule, quality, risk and activity monitoring. You will constantly review and develop procedures and documentation to maintain quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities
Project manage a portfolio of customer projects while maintaining project controls (budget, schedule, quality, risk, activity).
Continuously review and develop procedures and documentation to ensure quality and accuracy.
Communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats with teams and stakeholders.
Organise work and achieve objectives through strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders, conveying technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Qualifications
Engineering degree or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years’ experience.
Proven experience managing large infrastructure projects, balancing project management with a deep understanding of power systems.
Ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders.
Strong communication skills and ability to express technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Experience conceiving and introducing innovative ideas, solutions or new ways of doing things.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team, guiding own work under minimal supervision.
Commercial awareness, making decisions and recommendations in all aspects of project implementation.
Full, clean driver’s licence.
Team
The Chief Infrastructure Office (CIO) leads the development and delivery of power system and interconnection investment programmes in partnership with customers, partners and communities. The Connection Projects (Southern Region) team delivers electricity generation, demand and interconnection customer connections to the transmission system, including transmission works for power generation and demand customer connections at distribution voltage levels.
