Job Description:
The role of Design Engineer in our organisation requires a minimum Level 8 Honours Degree qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent qualification appropriate to the tasks assigned) and typically involves between 3 to 6 years of experience depending on the knowledge and skills gained throughout their career to date.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Liaising with clients to deliver required designs upon direction from the Project Manager.
* Reviewing documents and designs prepared by junior engineers.
* Preparation and review of preliminary designs and reports using computer packages, as well as preparation of detailed design drawings and specifications.
* Procurement of Site Investigation, Building and Civil Engineering Contracts.
* Assisting project managers in the preparation of tender documents and tender assessments.
* Administration of construction contracts to ensure that design requirements, project schedules and project budget are achieved.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal communication skills.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and aptitude to develop skills in AutoCAD 3D and Building Information Modelling (BIM).
* Capability to develop skills in the use of software packages such as MicroDrainage, Microsoft Access and GIS software packages like ArcGIS and MapInfo.
* Working knowledge of construction contracts such as PWMF Forms of Contract.
* Working knowledge of relevant software packages like Microsoft Project, MicroDrainage, and other similar packages needed for daily tasks.
