Overview
Engineering Supervisor – Backend Night Shift
Reports to the Senior Engineering Manager in the Sensor Engineering Org.
Supervises equipment technicians during the Backend Night Shift (12‑hour shifts, Friday to Sunday and alternate Thursdays).
Supports a 4‑on/3‑off – 3‑on/4‑off repeating schedule.
Receives a 25% shift premium for Thursdays and 30% for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate technician activities during the assigned shift, ensuring tasks are completed safely and to a high standard.
Review PM (Preventative Maintenance) and CM (Corrective Maintenance) activities in Maximo.
Delegate preventative maintenance tasks.
Oversee corrective maintenance activities.
Approve technician time and attendance records.
Supervise projects such as layout moves, equipment assembly, and validation report execution.
Deliver monthly performance updates through one‑on‑one meetings with each technician.
Coordinate or conduct technician training to maintain skill levels.
Collaborate closely with the Production Supervisor to ensure smooth shift operations.
Provide hands‑on support during escalation scenarios or critical decisions.
Maintain and report on department metrics (OEE, Yield, and other KPIs related to equipment performance).
Ensure full compliance with all safety procedures, including Dexcom’s Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) program.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers to sustain equipment and support deployment and improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date equipment documentation (manuals, drawings, specifications).
Qualifications
Level 7/8 qualification with a minimum of 5‑8 years of related experience.
Supervisory experience in a similar role is essential.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical documents related to equipment specifications.
Strong written and verbal communication, including routine reports, shift reports, and correspondence.
Excellent presentation skills and responsiveness to questions from supervisors, engineers, and managers.
Knowledge of PLC and automated production/process equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, electro/motor systems, resistance welders, and packaging equipment (highly desirable).
Experience with process improvement projects aimed at improving yields and reducing downtime.
Proven ability to work hands‑on in a fast‑paced environment.
Technical writing skills applied to manufacturing documentation and process development; experience in the creation and revision of technical documentation.
Knowledge of high‑reliability, high‑volume manufacturing equipment and processes.
