A panel may be formed from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled. Locum Support Worker roles are also available.
Role reference: Ref: 84639. Staff allocation could be within residential/respite/day settings or in community services or in an individual’s own home. The appointee will initially commence in one area of the Strokestown Adult services and this work location may change due to future service needs.

The Role
Support Workers provide a key-working, supportive role for individuals supported by the service. Responsibilities include:
* Support the person in all aspects of daily living, focusing on the individual’s abilities and promoting independence and development of skills.
* Assist and support people who use the service with development of their individual person-centred plans and the achievement of personal outcomes.
* Support people who use the service in participating in ordinary everyday life of the community through inclusive and creative thinking.
* Carry out all aspects of personal care required during the day, including meals, personal hygiene and related physical well-being tasks.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
* Candidates should have good general education. A recognised qualification in intellectual disability or a FETAC Level 5 course is an advantage; QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable.
* 3 months experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability and individuals with challenging behaviour is desirable. Full training will be provided.
* Demonstrated flexibility, good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills, with patience and a sense of humour.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in IT, including ability to use computers, online systems and assistive technology.
* Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion and confidentiality and a commitment to current best practice.
* Full clean manual Driving Licence permitting driving on Irish roads; own car is an essential requirement. May require Class D1 licence with assistance provided to obtain it.
* Fluency in verbal and written English is essential.
Working Hours
* 1 X Permanent Part-Time 75 hours per fortnight
* 1 X Permanent Part-Time 62.5 hours per fortnight
* 2 X Permanent Part-Time 60 hours per fortnight (Annualised)
* 2 X Permanent Part-Time 56 hours per fortnight
* 1 X Specific Purpose Part-Time 21.5 hours per month
All posts are based on a 14-day duty roster. The successful candidates may be required to work to accommodate an integrated day service, with weekend work, some split duty hours, public holidays, evening/night duty and sleep-ins to meet service needs. The service model requires flexibility in working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Remuneration & Leave
* Salary scales: Department of Health salary scales as at 01/08/2025: €34,036 - €46,652 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). A Long Service Increment of €47,454 per annum (pro-rata) is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Additional payments for weekends, public holidays, sleep-ins and night-duty when worked.
* Salary quoted is based on a 39 hour week. Incremental credit subject to verification of previous public sector service.
* Annual Leave: 22 days per annum (pro-rata for part-time), i.e., 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked.
Tenure
A panel may be formed from which future permanent, temporary or fixed-term Support Worker appointments at Strokestown Adult Services may be offered over the next 6 to 12 months.
