The successful candidate will lead a team charged with delivering a high standard quality system of co-ordinated and cohesive state support to the micro and small business sector.This is a key position within the Local Enterprise Office structure of the Council. The successful candidate will play an important role in the development and implementation of a strategic plan to support enterprise, entrepreneurship and job creation at a local level and ensuring that the Local Enterprise Office provides services to start, grow and develop micro and small business throughout the County.About You:The ideal candidate shall have the following Skills and Experience:• Hold a degree level qualification (at least level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications);• Strong business acumen with experience that demonstrates an understanding of the phases of business development including a demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret business proposals from various perspectives e.g. finance, marketing, process/operations etc.;• Experience of taking a creative and innovative approach to developing strategies to support enterprise development;• An in-depth knowledge of the factors that impact local and regional development as well as the development and needs of the micro enterprise and small business sector;• A knowledge of national policies and priorities in relation to enterprise and entrepreneurship;• An understanding of the LEO supports, services and processes;• A knowledge of local government;• Excellent project and budget management experience; planning and administrative skills to ensure resources are utilised in an effective and efficient manner;• A creative self-starter with the ability to innovate and develop a strategic approach for the county;• Highly developed communicator with an excellent ability to influence and strong people management skills with a proven track record of achieving targets, driving initiatives and building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies;• Ability to review and undertake due diligence of business / project proposals for financial assistance and make a decision / recommendation accordingly.• Possession of a full unendorsed Class 'B' Driving licence and have access to their own car.The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 3pm on Thursday, 4th December, 2025.We are committed to a policy of equal opportunity and encourage applications under all nine grounds of the Employment Equality Act.
