Technical Director Role
This is a key appointment, reporting to the Engineering Director, with responsibility for leadership, governance, and troubleshooting within the Electrical Engineering discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop a strategy for Electrical Engineering across the Group, including forecasting and planning required capability and capacity.
* Support Business Units in strengthening and growing their departments, including department profiling, team competency gaps, and associated training needs.
* Develop targeted Specialized Knowledge areas within Electrical Engineering, such as sustainability.
* Work with Architecture and Engineering Disciplines to align and develop cross-functional competencies targeted at key sectors and technologies.
* Define design activities and deliverables required to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
Digitalisation of Business Processes/Ways of Working
* Define and implement a strategy for continuous improvement of Electrical Engineering.
* Develop and improve the Electrical Engineering Service Delivery Platform (SDP) as part of our Quality Management System (QMS).
* Create a Group-wide standardized way of working for Electrical Engineering, taking into account specific requirements in local code and industry norms.
* Ensure integration of key considerations, such as digitally enabled lean design DeLPD, sector-specific approaches, and design office locations.
* Manage business transformation projects, investing in cost and time.
Governance of Design Delivery
* Support/input to Sales Proposals as requested by the Engineering Director.
* Work with the Engineering Director to establish a 'watch list' of key projects based on extent of design challenge and technical integrity risk.
* Influence early stages of design on key projects.
* Chair Single Discipline Design Reviews (SDDRs) on key projects.
* Review Project Basis of Safety documents as required by the Engineering Director.
* Input to end of Concept/BoD 'go, no go' reviews for high-risk, challenging projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Passion for Electrical Engineering.
* Safe asset focus.
* Bachelor degree.
* 15 years relevant industry experience, with at least 10 at senior management level.
* Good working knowledge of Pharma, Med Tech, and Data Center industries.
* Member of a recognized Engineering professional body.
* Strong technical, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
