Permanent Contract - 5 days per week
Part-Time for School Hours - 28.40 working hours per week (during school term)
Scoil na Naomh Uilig is a fully inclusive, co-educational school, educating children of all abilities. This position is employed by Kare and based in is located at Rickardstown, Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Under the direction of the Principal of the School, the Nurse plays an intrinsic role in guiding and supporting students to achieve maximum independence in their development using a holistic approach.
Overview:
Ensure that all nursing procedures and treatments are carried out as per the agreed Nursing Plan
Continually monitor, evaluate and document the medical progress of the students
Exercise responsibility for the safe keeping and administration of drugs and treatments
Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and pre Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.) meetings
Participate in the development and implementation of all relevant policies, procedures and curriculum programmes as appropriate
Participate in the transition of students to and from the school.
Participate in community based activities.
Play an active role in liaising with families/guardians.
Play an active role in the development/implementation of Personal Care Plans
Assist and provide relevant information to non-nursing staff on all medical issues
Requirements
Qualification: A recognised validated university degree or equivalent qualification in General Nursing or Paediatric Nursing or Intellectual Disability Nursing
Experience working with challenging behaviour particularly with children who have an intellectual disability
Experience in using electronic systems for administration and record management
Excellent communication, report writing and IT skills
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
An understanding of the Regulations and Standards for Services for People with Disabilities is desirable.
Must provide proof of current NMBI registration OR proof of eligibility to register
Must be eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship

Staff Nurse Salary is paid in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales. Salary will be pro-rated in line with the school calendar (182 days a year).
