Intellectual Disability Nurse Position

This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities.


About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Intellectual Disability Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing holistic care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, promoting their health, well-being, and independence.


Responsibilities

* Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop individualized care plans that cater to the unique needs of each individual.
* Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
* Provide support with activities of daily living, including personal care and hygiene, to enable individuals to maintain their independence.
* Monitor and manage the physical and mental health needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities, ensuring their overall well-being.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated care and effective communication.
* Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities, promoting their autonomy and dignity.
* Develop and deliver education and training programs to individuals, families, and caregivers on health management and wellness strategies.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation, adhering to professional standards and regulations.


Requirements

* Registered Nurse qualification and current registration with the relevant nursing authority.
* Specialized training or experience in intellectual disability nursing is highly desirable.
* A compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, prioritizing the needs and well-being of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
* Strong assessment and clinical skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
* The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and open communication.
* A commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting advocacy for individuals with intellectual disabilities, recognizing their inherent value and dignity.
