About The Role
We are seeking an experienced
Quantity Surveyor
to join our team for a project in Cork City.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the project's commercial success by managing subcontractors, delivering accurate financial reporting, and overseeing all cost control functions.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Quantity Surveyor to bring expertise in cost and financial management to a high-value, complex project.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end financial oversight, including subcontractor management, project cost management, financial analysis, and ensuring commercial viability.
The person who is responsible for the control of construction costs of a project, from pre-contract stage through to completion to close of final account.
Responsibilities
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for:
Maintaining good relations with clients and their representatives at all times.
Supporting and liaising with other departments to perform commercial/contractual duties as necessary.
Liaising with other departments to provide information to improve the service provided and received by the Commercial / Financial Departments.
Assistance in preparation of interim & final valuations, payment applications, reconciliations of valuations and costs, and administration of sub-contractors, specialists and suppliers.
Maintaining a high level of morale among direct reports.
Understanding and adherence of the Coffey HSQE Management Systems.
Assist the Regional Commercial Manager as instructed/directed.
Understand contract obligations and ensure adherence by all stakeholders.
Liaise and co-operate with all company departments/personnel as required.
Measurement of quantities, in accordance with the standard methods of measurement, as required for supplier payments, subcontractor certification, interim and final account preparation, cost/value reconciliation and any other requirements.
Assist in the preparation of interim valuations and applications for payments of works in progress with full supporting documentation and in accordance with the contract.
Assist in preparation of contract final accounts for the works with full supporting documentation and in accordance with the contract.
Maintain and manage correspondence registers and material procurement schedule.
Assist in the preparation of Subcontractor Agreements & Supplier Accounts.
Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts in accordance with company procedures.
Assist in the preparation of monthly internal cost reports.
Assist in the preparation of monthly cost reports to the Client.
Assist in the preparation of Claims/Variation documentation and associated registers.
Identification of and assistance in the substantiation of Delays and Changes.
Ensure that site records for all labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, staff are kept as support for cost substantiation in the event of delays and/or change to the contract works.
Attend site meetings as required.
Grade the performance of Subcontractors, at regular intervals and on contract completion or at any time that a sub-contractor's performance is problematic, and report this to the Commercial Regional Manager.
Safeguard all monies, property, documents and confidential information belonging to the Company, clients or personnel.
Conduct correspondence and safeguard the interests of the Company when so doing and correctly record its views.
Raise any concerns to Line Manager or Senior Management staff if issues of HSQE or contractual non-compliance arise which may have an impact on the performance of the Company, whether commercial, operational or otherwise.
When the above duties are carried out by a Junior Quantity Surveyor, the Quantity Surveyor's role is to manage and supervise, while maintaining ultimate responsibility.
About You
Requirements
A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying/Engineering (or similar) from a UK or Irish University to support your competency in the role.
3 – 5 years relevant experience required.
Must have experience in supporting large civil infrastructure projects.
Strong Commercial Focus.
Experience in Public Works Contracts in Ireland or UK preferred
A member of the relevant Professional Institution preferred but not essential.
Full Clean Irish/EU Driving License
Authorized to work in Ireland i.e. hold a valid work permit or Stamp 4 visa.
Fluent English with strong written & spoken communication.
