Role Profile
We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to join our team in Lough Egish, Co. Monaghan, on a fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Site Manager, the EH&S Manager will lead and deliver all activities related to Environmental Health & Safety on-site. The successful candidate will foster a best-in-class EH&S culture in collaboration with the site management team and employees. This is an on-site role and a key part of the site management team.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement the site EH&S Management strategy aligned with Tirlán's central EH&S strategy and continuous improvement agenda.
2. Promote a culture of zero harm across the site, ensuring management-led initiatives focused on continuous improvement.
3. Manage the site EH&S risk assessment programme in collaboration with the management team to prioritize and reduce risks.
4. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and stay updated with new legislation and standards, including maintenance of the site's Industrial Emissions (IE) licence and GHG permit.
5. Oversee the operation and performance of the on-site Wastewater Treatment Plant.
6. Develop, deploy, and manage the EH&S training programme, ensuring statutory compliance and promoting site safety culture.
7. Lead on-site EH&S improvement, awareness, and engagement initiatives, acting as a role model for site values and behaviors.
8. Coordinate occupational health and sustainability programmes.
9. Develop and monitor site EH&S KPIs, ensuring compliance with Tirlán reporting requirements.
10. Support the Production Manager to maximize EH&S KPIs in line with production targets.
11. Represent the company in interactions with external agencies and stakeholders such as HSA, Monaghan County Council, insurers, etc.
12. Coordinate inspections and audits, ensuring adherence to external certifications like ISO 14001 and Tirlán Risk Management Safety.
13. Lead investigations of accidents and incidents on-site.
Requirements
1. Third-level qualification in Health & Safety, Food, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
2. 3-5 years of experience in a Health and Safety role within the dairy, food, or pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors, preferably in a management capacity.
3. Experience operating wastewater treatment plants.
4. Knowledge of EU ETS and GHG permitting is a distinct advantage.
5. Results-driven with high performance capability in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
6. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with an innate ability to motivate and lead teams.
7. Proven track record of continuous improvement within a lean manufacturing environment.
8. Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
