Description
Mayville School District is looking for certified teachers to join our Summer School team! Our summer session will run from June 16-July 3, 2025 for students entering Grades K-8 in the 2025-26 school year. Our daily schedule includes four class periods from 8:00am – 12:20pm. Please see our current class openings below following our class offerings from last year. We are also open to new course ideas in place of our enrichment classes, so please feel free to bring those ideas forward! JOB GOAL: Maximize the academic, social, emotional, and physical growth of students within a safe and positive learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Department of Public Instruction Licensure for Teaching
* Reading 5 (Grade 5) - This class is designed for students entering fifth grade in the fall. Instruction will focus on phonics, fluency, comprehension, and expanding vocabulary while reading an exciting variety of books. Writing activities will correlate with what is being read and expand the student’s thinking. Responding to reading in writing will channel the reader’s mind to focus on specific reading skills and strategies.(appropriate licensure required)
* Cardinal Way Games (Grades 1-3 & 4-6) – Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Safe will be practiced and applied through game playing, problem-solving, and class discussion. Come join us for fun and games all while flying the Cardinal Way!
* Cup Stacking 101 (Grades 1-2, 2-3, 3-4) – Have you ever seen cup stacking and wanted to learn? Come learn the fun techniques of cup stacking! Enjoy fun challenges, games, building creativity, and using your imagination! Come ready to learn and most of all have fun cup stacking!
* Harry Potter (Grades 1-3 & 4-6) – Accio wand! From invisibility cloaks to flying broomsticks, broomsticks and magical wands, Harry Potter is filled with mystery, food, crafts, and fun. Join in for magical, wizarding weeks of making wands, sharing Potter knowledge, writing for the Daily Prophet, listening to a read aloud, and so much more. Get immersed in the wonderful world of Harry Potter by creating wizard snacks and potions. Come explore the amazing world of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and of course, You Know Who…
* Running for Fun (Grades 1-3, 2-3, 4-6) – This class is all about staying active this summer and running for fun! Students will play many types of games that involve running, jumping, and other physical activity. Bring tennis shoes, active wear, and dress for the weather!
* Soccer Skills, Drills & Games (Grades 1-3, 2-4, 4-6) – Learn drills that will improve individual skills while gaining understanding of strategy and team concepts of soccer.
* Take the Challenge (Grades 5-8) - Push yourself to learn how to use the Mayville Fitness (Ninja) Course to its maximum capacity.
