Alliance Française Dublin was founded in 1960 and is located in the city center of Dublin. It is a registered Charity governed by a board of directors with sub-committees. Its tagline is "The destination for a truly French experience".
Alliance Francaise Dublin is ranked number 3 in Europe in terms of number of students. It is also one of the most dynamic Alliance Française in terms of cultural events.
AFD is a language school, an exams centre, a training centre for teachers, a cultural and intercultural institution with a library, a community of francophones and Francophiles in Ireland. More than 50 people work in Alliance Francaise Dublin from Monday to Saturday.
In 2023 the Alliance had:
· an annual turnover of € 1,500,000
· 5600 enrolments, 3550 students, 1400 members and 30,000 followers on social media.
· an attendance of over 10,000 people for our cultural and social events
The Purpose:
· Supervise and conduct all tasks related to facility management
· Ensure the smooth running of operation
· Ensure the safety of the staff, student and visitors
Reporting:
The Maintenance Operator will report directly to the HR & Operations Manager.
Key Areas of responsibility:
– Security and Safety
o Walk through the building to check for any immediate maintenance issues or safety hazards.
o Ensure all exits and emergency routes are clear and accessible.
o Ensure all facilities comply with health and safety regulations
o Conduct safety inspections
o Be responsible of the Burglar and Fire Alarm system, liaise with Chubb to manage the service and report any issue
o Test fire alarms, emergency lighting, and other safety systems.
o Conduct safety drills and checks to ensure staff are familiar with emergency procedures.
o Maintain up-to-date records of compliance.
– Cleaning
o Keep basement and flat roof clean, swept and free from rubbish
o Inspect and maintain outdoor areas, ensuring they are free of litter and debris
o Keep steps clear of rubbish except when rubbish bags are left out for collection
o Ensure all waste is disposed of properly and recycling procedures are followed.
o Keep pavement along by boundary wall free from weeds and rubbish
o Empty the Archive room in the basement in order to create a theatre
– Routine Maintenance:
o Regular inspection and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural elements.
o Address minor repairs such as painting, replacing light bulbs, and repairing door handles.
o Contact external contractors for major repairs
o Schedule and oversee any contracted maintenance services or repairs.
o Update maintenance logs and records of completed tasks and repairs.
o Meet with HR & Operations Manager to review the facility's maintenance status and discuss any upcoming needs or projects.
– Support to organise our classes and events
o Assist in setting up and rooms for children classes, Library and Coffee space for events, install exhibitions
– Inventory Management:
o Keep track of maintenance supplies
o Ensure that all necessary tools and materials are available and in good condition.
o Report immediately if anything is misfunctioning or need to be adjusted
Skills:
· Experience in building maintenance,
· be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Conditions:
28:30 hours per week:
* From Tuesday to Friday 8h – 12h
* Saturday: 08h -17h30 (including a 1 hour break)
