The Role of a Building Control Manager
About the Job
The Building Control Manager will oversee the Building Control function within a local authority, responsible for human, physical and financial resources.
This includes all matters which fall under Building Regulations legislation, such as:
* Validation and processing of statutory fees
* Pre-application consultations
* Street naming and postal numbering
* Property certificates
* Dangerous structures, dilapidated buildings and neglected sites
* Energy performance of Buildings Regulations
* Fire risk assessments and disability access audits
The post holder will also be responsible for developing, delivering and leading inspection programmes, education and enforcement of relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Developing, delivering and leading inspection programmes
* Education and enforcement of relevant legislation
* Compliance with statutory and legislative requirements
* Maintaining confidentiality in all areas relating to the work of the council
Requirements
A degree or equivalent qualification in a building related discipline is required, along with full corporate membership of an appropriate building related professional institution or association. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience as a qualified Building Control Officer working in a management position.
