We are seeking an experienced and motivated Accountant to take ownership of our financial operations and play a key role in supporting the management team. Based in Slane, Co. Meath, this is a full-time, permanent position offering.
About the Role
Reporting directly to management, the Accountant will oversee all day-to-day accounting activities for the dealership. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth running of financial processes, accurate reporting, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role suits an organised and proactive professional who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys working closely with operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare weekly and monthly management accounts with accurate financial reporting
* Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including posting journals and maintaining ledgers
* Handle credit control and monitor outstanding debtor balances
* Manage VAT administration and customs declarations
* Process bank statements, manual payments, and reconciliations
* Prepare and submit monthly VAT and other statutory returns
* Process and manage weekly and monthly payroll
* Oversee stock control and inventory accounting
* Investigate and resolve accounting queries for management
* Identify and report discrepancies to departmental managers
* Produce and distribute aged debtor reports and management summaries
* Collaborate closely with managers across departments to maintain financial accuracy
* Provide administrative and reporting support as required
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent)
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in an accounting role
* Experience within a car dealership or franchise environment is a distinct advantage
* Strong Microsoft Excel and data reconciliation skills
* Working knowledge of accounting software and financial reporting systems
