Offer description

We are seeking a dedicated Fire Prevention Officer to provide expert risk management advice and ensure the protection of staff, patients, and the public. In this role, you will be pivotal in ensuring the organization meets all legal and statutory obligations regarding Fire Health & Safety Prevention across various healthcare and technical facilities in the Cork/Kerry region. You will work as part of a professional team providing technical, project management, and property services, reporting directly to the Engineering Director. Responsibilities Your duties will involve a mix of high-level advisory work, practical inspections, and staff training Conduct regular inspections of buildings, escape routes, and fire-fighting equipment. Ensure all systems are well-marked, in good repair, and fully operational. Draw up fire orders and evacuation schemes, with specific focus on non-ambulant and vulnerable patients. Participate in the Integrated Quality and Risk committee; investigate accidents and provide detailed reports. Monitor the health and safety performance of external contractors on construction sites. Instruct staff on fire hazard avoidance, alarm operation, and evacuation procedures. Coordinate regular fire drills across all locations. Advise on Building Regulations and Fire Protection Standards. Provide written reports every three months on the state of fire prevention services. Requirements A HETAC Level 7 qualification (NQF) in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Architecture, Health and Safety, Building Services, or Building Surveying Minimum of two years experience in a comparable Fire and Safety role. A high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders. Proactive commitment to sustainable energy and waste initiatives. Ability to manage budgets and achieve targets within allocated timeframes.
