Building Surveyor | Co. Monaghan, Ireland | Full Time - Office based unless travelling - 9:00 am until 5:00 pm from Monday to Thursday inclusive and 9:00 am until 2:30 pm on Friday (travel times vary) | €40,000.00-€50,000.00 per yearDue to high demand, a vacancy has arisen for a full-time Building Surveyor to join our client's team based in Co. Monaghan, Ireland.
As a member of the team, you will play an important role in enabling the company to maintain its high levels of performance and ensure its continued growth into the future.Your role will involve carrying out surveys and inspections for residential and commercial clients across Ireland, the UK, and Mainland Europe.
You will primarily focus on producing detailed, high-quality reports by collating relevant information and ensuring that the highest standards and best building practices are upheld for every project.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, take ownership and responsibility for their workload, and show a clear commitment to collaborative working within a supportive and cooperative work environment.Are you the right person for the job?Fluent English, questioning, listening, verbal and writtenA full driving licenceA minimum of three years' experience in a similar roleA relevant Degree in Building Surveying, Property, or a Construction-related disciplineExcellent communication skills – written, questioning, listening and verbalStrong ICT Skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, andPowerPointThe ability to assess, prioritise and manage riskKnowledge of construction methods, materials and technologyKnowledge of Construction and Health and Safety legislationUnderstanding of best practice construction methodologiesEffective decision making and problem-solving skills.
Make sound and timely decisions using technical knowledge and personal experienceA self-starter, highly organised, and an efficient team player, capable of planning and executing own workload and operating effectively without close supervisionConfident and articulate to demonstrate the ability to work in a collaborative environment, be a Client-facing professional, and have the ability and skills to develop and nurture long-term Client relationshipsGood organisation skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and willingness to ask for help when needed, as well as supporting other members of the team, i.e., engendering a positive attitude within the workplaceWhat will your role look like?Ability to review technical information, i.e., technical datasheets, drawings, specifications, conditions, consultations, etc, to determine remedial solutions to live problemsUndertake site visits across Ireland, the UK and Mainland EuropeSite attendance to aid in surveys/review of progressDeliver a range of reports to a high standard, using initiative and a proactive approach to ensure Client deadlines and objectives are met, taking pride and ownership in the quality of work deliveredAssist Staff, Managing and Associate Directors when requiredAssessing defects and compiling expert reports for Clients involved in disputesRegularly reviewing the status of tasks, chasing outstanding informationBe aware of the requirements of the company and our Clients to escalate matters where necessaryHandling inbound/outbound calls, emails and general technical enquiries from the Client and other professional advisorsEnsure accurate records are maintained on the company systems in accordance with defined proceduresDevelop strong working relationships with Client personnel, internal and external stakeholders (including contractors, engineers, architects, project managers, occupiers, etc), holding professional conversations, managing expectations and discussing feedback to improve the level of service providedWhat's next?
