Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Manager 2
This is a part-time (0.5) permanent position within Vhi for the role of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse CNM 2 based in Swords.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive standardised IPC service in line with the Health & Wellbeing (H&W) IPC annual programme, which supports safe quality care.
* Clinical focus, patient advocacy, education and training, research and audit, and consultation across H&W national services
* Expert advice and support to all members of both clinical and non-clinical teams
* Key stakeholder and member of the IPC team providing best practice in the area of IPC
The role involves:
* Acting as an accountable role model through the provision of professional leadership and demonstration of best practice in the area of IPC
* Working as part of the IPC team to ensure IPC annual program for H&W with identified goals are achieved
* Providing and maintaining a comprehensive, efficient, and effective IPC service by assessing, identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the role in line with national and international recommendations and guidance
* Carrying out the responsibilities of the role with cognisance of national and international best quality assured standards of care
* Managing service user care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence based, risk management approach
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* Registration in the General Nurse Division
* 5 years post-registration experience
* Desirable: 1 year of experience working in the specialty of infection prevention & control
* A recognised post-registration nursing course - Higher Diploma or Post Grad course in Infection Control or be in pursuit of same
You will also need to:
* Maintain live annual registration on the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
* Act as a specialist resource in providing IPC knowledge and expertise to nursing and all healthcare personnel
* Ensure that all IPC guidelines and procedures are research/evidence based and that they are updated as required
* Advise and participate in the commissioning, tendering and purchasing of patient care and medical equipment as pertaining to IPC
* Provide IPC advice to committees established to oversee capital projects, renovations and refurbishments within the clinic
* Participate in the formulation of IPC risk assessments guidelines, standards and procedures, with the IPC team and other relevant staff, including defining areas of special risk
* Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement across the department involving the team in continuous improvement initiatives and encouraging innovation
