Overview
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Project Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team. This role will focus on projects in the data centre, industrial/high-tech, and commercial sectors across the EMEA region. The successful candidate will lead mechanical building services design from concept to client handover, manage multiple concurrent projects, and play a key role in mentoring junior engineers while ensuring consistent delivery quality.
This is a hybrid role based in Ireland, with attendance at the Dublin office aligned to project and team needs.
What You’ll Bring
* A minimum of 10 years' mechanical design experience within building services
* A relevant engineering qualification (Chartered status is a plus)
* Demonstrated experience delivering data centre or complex high-tech building projects
* Strong client-facing and communication skills
* Proven ability to manage mechanical design deliverables across full project lifecycles
* Strong multitasking and prioritisation abilities in fast-paced environments
* Solid understanding of HVAC systems, building controls, and preferably plumbing/drainage systems
* Experience mentoring junior/intermediate engineers
* Excellent technical reporting skills with the ability to simplify complex engineering challenges
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the mechanical design process across multiple projects, ensuring technical accuracy and timely delivery
* Manage and support team members to ensure productivity, quality, and development
* Maintain strong client relationships and tailor engineering solutions to specific project needs
* Monitor and control project scope to ensure alignment with contract terms
* Coordinate internal resources to optimise project execution
* Report project progress and challenges to senior management
* Promote a collaborative and positive culture across the team and wider business
* Ensure all project outputs align with internal quality assurance standards
