Position Overview: They are seeking a dedicated and experienced Person In Charge to lead their clinical team and ensure the highest quality of care for their residents.
Reporting directly to the Directors, the successful candidate will oversee the nursing and healthcare services in accordance with the Health Act 2007, HIQA regulations, and best practice standards.
This is a leadership role requiring strategic planning, team management, and a commitment to continuous improvement in resident care.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to nursing and care staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Oversee staff induction, training, and professional development to ensure ongoing competency and compliance with best practices.
Implement and monitor policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with HIQA regulations and company guidelines.
Conduct regular staff meetings and ensure clear, open communication within the nursing team.
Manage team rosters, ensuring optimal staffing levels and efficient resource allocation.
Clinical Care & Compliance: Ensure high-quality, person-centered care for all residents, promoting their well-being, dignity, and independence.
Oversee medication management processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
Monitor and evaluate clinical practice within the home, conducting regular audits and reporting findings.
Implement infection control protocols and ensure adherence to hygiene and cleanliness standards.
Conduct risk assessments and oversee health and safety measures to safeguard residents, staff, and visitors.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation and reporting of incidents, care plans, and compliance records.
Resident & Family Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with residents and their families, addressing concerns and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
Encourage and facilitate resident participation in community activities and events.
Work closely with external healthcare providers, including GPs, hospitals, and the HSE, to coordinate comprehensive resident care.
Recruitment & Staff Development: Participate in the selection, interviewing, and hiring of nursing and care staff.
Provide mentorship and performance management to ensure staff competency and professional growth.
Encourage innovative practices to enhance the quality of care and services provided.
Health & Safety Compliance: Implement and monitor health and safety policies, ensuring a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Conduct regular fire safety training and evacuation drills.
Oversee preventative maintenance programs to ensure the facility remains in excellent condition.
Education & Qualifications: Third-Level Degree in Nursing (Essential) Registered with An Bord Altranais (NMBI) with an active PIN (Essential) Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent (Essential) Valid certificates in Infection Control, Manual & Resident Moving & Handling, Medication Management, CPR, Dementia Care, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults Experience & Requirements: Minimum 5 years of post-registration nursing experience (Essential) Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in elderly care within the last 6 years (Essential) Minimum 3 years of management/supervisory experience in a healthcare setting within the last 6 years (Essential) Strong ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and external healthcare providers Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience in resource planning and staff development In-depth knowledge of HIQA standards and regulatory requirements If interested in this position, please apply with your CV by email to for more information Skills: Third-Level Degree in Nursing Post-registration qualification in healthcare ma Benefits: Company Pension Accomodation Bonos Structure
