Assist with planning, coordination, and implementation of all Keep Charleston Beautiful school-based education programs and activities and help to recruit volunteers for education programs and litter cleanups. Examples of Duties:Schedule, promote, and conduct Clean City Clara (K-5th grade) and Talking Trash (6th-8th grade) litter prevention presentations.Assist with recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteers for Clean City Clara elementary school educational programs.Promote and help with school-based community cleanup or beautification projects.Assist with general volunteer recruitment and community involvement.Supervise school volunteers during cleanup and beautification projects.Assist with administrative tasks such as database management, preparation of mailings, preparation of thank you notes and newsletters, and communication with schools and volunteer groups.Attend monthly Keep Charleston Beautiful Board meetings to provide program updates.Create and implement new school programs to promote litter prevention.Supervisory responsibilitiesThe Education Coordinator may help supervise undergraduate interns, volunteer groups, and community service workers for 1-4 hours during beautification and cleanup activities. These events may fall on weekends. Basic Qualifications:Ability to work with a diverse range of audiences.Must be comfortable working with large groups of young children. Must be familiar with word processing and spreadsheet programs on a personal computer.Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.Must be familiar with email and internet searches, and Microsoft Office Programs.Administrative and event planning experience is recommended.Bachelor's degree or higher. Position hours are flexible and range from 5-15 hours a week depending on school programs and volunteer projects.
