DNV are seeking an
Ecologist
who will support a variety of ecological projects, including conducting fieldwork and preparing reports in compliance with Irish and European environmental legislation.
Responsibilities include ecological surveys including detailed assessments, and report writing to assist developers in planning applications, identify ecological constraints, and recommend mitigation measures for biodiversity protection.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct field surveys of habitats, birds, plants, bats, mammals, and invasive species.
Assess welfare conditions of animals using behavioural indicators.
Prepare ecological reports, including:
Appropriate Assessment Screening reports
Natura **** Impact Statements (NIS)
Preliminary Environmental Assessment (PEA) reports
Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) reports
Biodiversity Management Plans (BMP)
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Utilize QGIS mapping for ecological assessments.
Collaborate on projects such as:
National infrastructure development: Assessment and mapping for new development areas
Bbiodiversity initiatives, including biodiversity mapping reports.
Large-scale residential developments: Full suite of ecological reports, field surveys, and mapping
Resource extraction projects: Breeding bird and bat surveys, mapping for mitigation measures
Participate in active fieldwork, data compilation, and reporting for residential and commercial projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications
MSc or equivalent in Biodiversity, Conservation, Ecology, or related field
Experience in ecological surveying and report writing
Familiarity with QGIS mapping and ecological data analysis
Knowledge of Irish and European environmental legislation
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Security and compliance with statutory requirements in the countries in which we operate is essential for DNV.
