This opportunity is based in Tena, Ecuador, with a minimum duration of 4 weeks. Start dates are each month; please inquire when applying. The fee is $500 for the first week plus $350 for each additional week, covering food, accommodation, support, orientation, and project activities. Flights, insurance, visas, and personal expenses are not included.
Responsibilities include:
* Working with local farmers, foresters, park rangers, and environmental engineers on forest conservation, agroforestry, and sustainable farming projects.
* Learning about climate change mitigation efforts and supporting local initiatives to diversify farms, promote environmental education, and increase regional resilience.
* Engaging with Amazonian cultures, ethnobotany, and plant medicine.
* Participating in agroforestry activities such as planting, weeding, and harvesting.
* Supporting eco-tourism, reforestation, and community development projects.
* Research and dissertation support may be available through partner organizations.
