A caregiver in this position works evenings/nights from 3:00PM – 11:00PM or 11:00PM – 7:00AM.
Job Description Job Responsibilities:Responsible for operation of the steam plant during assigned shift and in emergency conditions/situations. Ensures safe and effective operation of the plant. Regenerates and recharges water-conditioning equipment and adjusts chemical treatment in the boiler water, chilled water and condensing tower water at the assigned location. Maintains daily log of equipment status and activities performed during the shift and conveys all conditions to next shift. Assists in inventory, equipment rotation, PM and repair schedules, readings and report to the Manager any abnormal conditions. Troubleshoots steam/chiller plant systems and correct systems problems. Assists in monthly testing of emergency generators. Works with Boiler Mechanic and other facilities personnel to ensure the safe and effective operation of the steam/ chiller plant. Work may occasionally be assigned across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations. Other duties as assigned.Education:High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required.Certifications:Third Class Stationary Engineer License (CCE) OR High-Pressure Boiler Operator License through the Ohio Department of Commerce preferred.Competencies (Complexity of Work):Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Work Experience:Two years of experience operating high-capacity boilers over thirty horsepower and other steam/chiller plant equipment or systems experience, or internship experience can substitute for the 2 years of relevant experience with a Third-Class Stationary Engineer License or High-Pressure Boiler Operator License.
