Join our dedicated team where we are involved in the delivery of civil engineering services from feasibility through construction stage across a wide range of electricity infrastructure projects supporting ESB's strategic objectives of decarbonising electricity, building resilient infrastructure and empowering clients.
The range of electricity generation projects being developed include renewables projects such as long duration energy storage, hydrogen production, as well as flexible thermal generation stations, and site remediation and demolition projects.
The Civil & Structural Specialist Lead will be responsible for the professional services and technical engineering input into project engineering works packages including the provision of engineering solutions appropriate for various aspects of projects from feasibility through to construction. The role may involve managing a team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead in the provision of technical services and expertise, from concept to hand over in the delivery of engineering works.
2. Act as subject matter expert and key influencer on Civil\Structural technical services provision with a key role in developing and supporting junior staff members in the team.
3. Contract management of large civil contracts, with a leading role in specification preparation, tendering, contract negotiation and contract management.
4. Manage and co-ordinate all relevant interfaces within and external to ESB required to successfully deliver projects to approved scope, budget, and programme.
5. Ensure a consistent high standard of output which meets all technical, commercial, safety, programme and customer requirements.
6. Promote and lead the safety management culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to safety.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
7. Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
8. Minimum 7 years relevant post qualification experience.
9. Developed a high level of specialist expertise, including a strong technical capability across the civil/structural engineering services sector with a proven track record in delivering significant projects.
10. Strong communications and report writing skills and proven ability in management of external stakeholders.
11. Critical thinking skills, decision making and judgement required to ensure significant civil engineering risks are identified and successfully managed on projects.
12. A strong ability to identify project work requirements and to initiate plan and implement required scope work items with limited oversight.
13. Full driving license and access to a car.
Desirable
14. Demonstrable technical expertise in the areas of civil/structural design of significant structures, structural condition assessment, repair, and reinstatement.
15. Experience in the use of FIDIC Conditions of Contract, including EPC, D&B Contracting and Multi Direct Contracting of large projects.
16. Experience in the management of a team of professionals.
17. Chartered status in a recognized professional engineering institution.
Location
This position will be based in EMP Dublin or Cork offices but travel to project locations as required is a key requirement of the role.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within the employed jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€71,000 to €84,000 per annum
