The Board is seeking an individual who can bring senior strategic insight, networks and practical experience to support Deaf Enterprises in strengthening its long-term sustainability, profile and growth.

The Role of a Board Member
As a member of the Board, you will contribute to the effective governance, strategic direction and oversight of Deaf Enterprises.
Board members collectively hold responsibility for:
Strategic leadership and organisational direction
Governance, compliance and risk oversight
Financial stewardship and long-term sustainability
Supporting the executive team through constructive challenge and guidance
Ensuring Deaf Enterprises remains mission-led, inclusive and impact-focused
Specific Expertise Sought
We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
Growth, Fundraising and Income Development
Strong experience in developing or supporting income generation and growth strategies, including:
Strategic fundraising planning
Major donor fundraising
Trusts and foundations
Corporate partnerships
Community fundraising
Income diversification and sustainability planning
Philanthropy and Relationship-Led Giving
Experience of philanthropic engagement, including:
High-net-worth individual giving
Relationship-led fundraising
Stewardship and donor engagement
Building sustainable philanthropic partnerships
Developing networks that can support long-term organisational growth
Strategic Partnerships, Marketing and Profile Building
Experience in strategic partnerships, marketing, communications or brand development, including:
Corporate or community partnership development
Brand positioning
Profile building
Campaign strategy
Audience development
Strategic communications
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are seeking someone who can bring:
Senior leadership or strategic experience
Strong commercial, charitable sector or social enterprise insight
Networks that may support Deaf Enterprises’ growth and development
Strategic thinking and sound judgement
A collaborative and values-led approach
Commitment to inclusion, social impact and meaningful employment opportunities
Desirable, but not essential
Experience in the charity, social enterprise or not-for-profit sector
Knowledge of CSR / ESG partnerships
Understanding of disability inclusion or employment supports
Familiarity with governance / trustee roles
Time Commitment
The anticipated commitment includes:
Attendance at approximately 6 Board meetings annually
Participation in occasional sub-groups or strategic planning sessions
Preparation for meetings and review of Board papers
Acting as an ambassador for Deaf Enterprises where appropriate
