Excel Recruitment is seeking skilled and experienced Furniture Fitters to join our client's busy service team in the Waterford area.
Position: Furniture Fitting & Assembly Technician
Location: Waterford
Job Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term Contract (with a view to permanency)
About the Role
We are looking for hands-on, detail-oriented professionals to assemble and install a range of furniture – from wardrobes and bed frames to modular and sliding units – in customer homes and retail display settings.
You'll play an important role in ensuring every installation is completed to the highest standard while delivering excellent customer service on-site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assemble and install flat-pack and modular furniture (e.g. wardrobes, bed frames, sliding units) in customer homes or store displays.
2. Read and interpret assembly manuals and modular installation plans, including those from brands such as IKEA and similar.
3. Carry out on-site tasks such as mounting units to walls, adjusting skirting boards, cutting access points for sockets, or fitting fillers (training provided).
4. Perform minor repairs or adjustments to furniture when required.
5. Deliver a professional customer experience – arrive punctually, work neatly, ensure site safety, and capture required signatures or updates.
6. Complete job documentation accurately and report any issues to supervisors.
7. Maintain company tools, vehicle, and equipment in good order.
Qualifications & Skills
8. 1-2 years of experience in furniture assembly, fitting, or a related trade.
9. Confident in using hand tools and power tools (cordless drills, jigsaws, mitre saws, multi-tools, etc.).
10. Strong ability to read and follow detailed assembly and installation instructions.
11. Full, clean B driving licence (essential).
12. Excellent communication skills and fluent English.
13. Reliable, punctual, and customer-focused approach.
Desirable (Not Essential)
14. Background in carpentry or joinery.
15. Experience with branded modular systems or fitted furniture.
16. Ability to carry out minor on-site modifications during installation.
