Responsibilities
Assessment of care needs and development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and support nursing team.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans in conjunction with patients, carers (where relevant) and other professionals ensuring individual needs are met.
Complete unit rota’s and ensure appropriate skill mix is in place in each individual unit.
Provide nursing assessment of patients admitted to the service.
Participate in ward rounds, multi‑professional meetings, tribunals and support the nursing team.
Lead the unit, support junior staff in clinical decision making, supervise and appraise junior staff members.
Ensure high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatments including custody, storage and administration of medicines.
Maintain high standard of nursing care during procedures and treatments through supervision and instruction.
Ensure patients' rights are maintained and protected under the Mental Health Act.
Inform Assistant Director of Nursing of any professional issues as necessary.
Take charge of the centre in the absence of the Assistant Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing.
Exercise leadership within the service by ensuring sound organisation, good communication and relationships within the nursing team and the MDT.
Plan and prepare for MHC visits and inspections, working alongside outside agencies to ensure effective communication across services.
Familiar and adhere to the Mental Health Act 2001, Mental Health Amendment Act 2008, Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, Health Act 2007 and all associated regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
Work according to Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines.
Maintain highest level of infection control standards as directed by company policy and national best practice guidance.
Ensure ICPs are up to date and services are delivered to the highest standard of quality and safety.
Adhere to local safety statements (risk assessments and SOPs) and all company policies and procedures.
Use company IT systems as instructed, keeping passwords confidential and protecting personal data according to GDPR.
Act responsibly, co‑operate with regulators and work for the service users' best interests.

Essential Criteria
Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Minimum of 3+ years post‑qualification/registration psychiatric nursing experience.
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience in secure care provision.
Previous clinical management experience.
