The Opportunity
The role of the Chief Transformation and Technology Office (CTTO) is to vision, lead, transform, digitise, and deliver a transformational capability that enables Ireland’s power system and market to meet the targets for 2030 and beyond. We now have a new and exciting opportunity for a Strategic PMO Manager who will report to the Head of Programme Management Office, to join EirGrid. As the Strategic PMO Manager, you will sit at the heart of this transformation. This is a leadership role responsible for driving long term transformation planning for EirGrid’s strategic programmes through best-in-class programme management, governance, and business alignment. The IT PMO is a critical enabler for the successful delivery of €700m of strategic programmes. Aligned with EirGrid’s strategic goals, we will look to you to drive delivery excellence, ensure business value, and enable effective decision-making through robust governance and insight. The role reports to the Head of Programme Management Office, who has responsibility for driving long term transformation planning for CTTOs strategic programmes through best-in-class programme management, governance, and business alignment.
Key Responsibilities

Develop & lead the roll out of the CTTOO Project Management Framework methodology via the roll out of clear processes and procedures for project, programme and portfolio delivery.
Develop a project and programme assurance process to establish appropriate governance and project and program controls across the IT programme delivery.
Establish a governance process to manage changes across the 5 year IT program delivery plan worth +€600m.
Partner with Project executives and Portfolio managers to ensure large scale programs are set up for success with clear set of program KPIs, program controls, and business benefits realisation.
Work with Portfolio Managers and business representatives to establish a fit for purpose set of Portfolio KPI’s to measure and to ensure portfolio activity aligns with CTTOO and Eirgrid overall strategy.
Monitor & manage the Project Approval Board process for new demand coming into the Portfolio for delivery. Provides coaching and assistance to program and portfolio managers with implementing project management processes and embedding the lessons learned captured across the portfolio.
Compiles metrics relating to project success, project attributes, portfolio release management, team velocity and adoption of best in practices processes and procedures.
Provide input into senior management reporting
Track costs and performance, service levels and other metrics required to ensure project goals and objectives are met
M anage Portfolio Initiative and Resource demand,
Assess integrated delivery plans and provide recommendations to Head of Program Delivery where applicable.
Lead the implementation of project and program assurance reviews along with ensuring projects and programs are ‘set for success’ and provide required recommendations to Program Executives.
Lead the adoption and implementation of a Risk Management approach, processes and procedures across all of the 5 capital IT investment portfolios.
Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organisation standards

About You

A recognised project management qualification PRINCE2, PMP, IPMA;
10+ years of experience within a similar role or as a program or portfolio manager;
Strong project / program governance and assurance background. Being able to demonstrate experience in leading a team with the ability to challenge others appropriately in relation to governance matters, and influence others to accept proposed changes;
Strong financial acumen with previous experience managing IT capex and opex budgets;
Strong Leadership and communication skills by having the ability to lead and motivate teams and to collaborate with a diverse range of people;
Risk Management - Ability to identify potential risks, gaps, issues and process improvements and deliver the change required;
Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with an aptitude to work in a complex environment pivot and adapt;
Communication Skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Experience of all project life cycle phases from Initiation to Transition and Closure, ensuring stage gate controls and relevant sign offs are in place throughout the project;
Experience of the delivery of program milestones and deliverables and delivering an outcome that can achieve the benefits defined in the Business Case, at the appropriate level of quality;
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills;
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
Highly organised planning and time management skills with excellent attention to detail
