Our client, a public sector body, is seeking to hire a Liaison Officer for a temporary 3-month contract, working 35 hours per week based in Galway.
Purpose:
The main functions of the Liaison Officer include, but are not limited to:
* Implementing the Liaison Officer functions for the Assessment of Need process under the Disability Act.
* Arranging appropriate service provision for individuals with disabilities based on assessed needs and available resources.
* Providing a Service Statement for each applicant and ensuring the delivery of services within specified timeframes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administration
* Providing requested statistics.
* Maintaining administrative systems according to guidelines, policies, and high standards.
* Managing information and document retention as required under the Act.
Legal
* Meeting obligations under the Disability Act, including receiving Assessment Reports, preparing Service Statements, and adhering to relevant regulations and guidelines.
* Ensuring compliance with the Education for Persons with Special Educational Needs Act.
* Working within the Corporate Governance Framework to maintain standards of care and compliance with legislation.
* Being aware of relevant legislative, regulatory, and procedural requirements.
* Collaborating with service managers to develop feasible Service Statements and planning to address service gaps.
* Ensuring services meet high standards and governance requirements.
Candidate Requirements
* Holding a relevant third-level qualification (NFQ Level 7 or above) or equivalent.
* Experience working in a healthcare environment, preferably with people with disabilities, in an administrative capacity.
Health
Applicants must be in good health, capable of performing the duties effectively, and capable of providing regular, efficient service.
Character
Candidates must demonstrate good character.

* Leadership and Teamwork: Showing leadership, teamwork, interdepartmental networking, flexibility, diplomacy, and initiative.

* Problem Solving and Decision Making: Analyzing information, making decisions, and escalating issues appropriately.
* Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent presentation, negotiation, and group facilitation skills.
* Knowledge and Professional Knowledge: Understanding relevant legislation, HIQA regulations, person-centered service design, and familiarity with the HSE and disability services. Computer skills including MS Office and internet research are also required.
