Job Overview Our Client, an Irish-based food production company, who specialise in contemporary bakery products, are seeking to recruit a Trainee Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in financial reporting, supporting month-end processes, maintaining accounting records, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting activities. The role will involve working closely with the finance team while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance. The company operates a highly automated, world-class bakery facility and supplies high-quality artisan and contemporary baked goods to both Irish and UK retail and food service markets. Key Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements. Support the month-end and year-end close processes. Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. Maintain and update accounting records, files, and documentation. Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Prepare and submit tax returns and other statutory financial documentation. Collaborate with the finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. Utilise accounting software for data entry, analysis, and reporting. Perform ad hoc duties and provide support to senior finance staff as required. Core Skills/ Attributes Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with accounting software (desirable). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to learn, adapt, and develop within a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (required).
