Assistant Professor – Historical and/or Cultural Geography in the School of Natural Sciences, Trinity College Dublin.
Responsibilities
The School of Natural Sciences is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor with an excellent research and teaching record in Historical and/or Cultural Geography. Research expertise should contribute to understanding of historical and/or cultural dimensions of complex societal challenges in the broad area of Society, Space and Environment. Themes may include, for example, landscape, more-than-human geographies, critical history of cartography, critical geopolitics, environmental historical geography, place and memory, feminist/social movements, geographies of mobility, decolonial and indigenous geographies. Candidates are expected to demonstrate successful research achievements around these themes and will develop an independent research programme connecting with research groups in the School of Natural Sciences (comprising of the disciplines of Botany, Geography, Geology, and Zoology) and more widely within Trinity College. The appointee will be required to compete for national and international research funding (e.g. Research Ireland; EU Horizon Europe; ERC; EPA, Welcome Trust) and to build a dynamic research group with international recognition.
Qualifications
Post Status: Tenure Track – This position is Tenure Track position which is 5‑years in the first instance, permanency is subject to satisfying the tenure requirements.
Compensation
Salary: Appointment will be made on the Lecturer Salary Scale (109BN) commensurate with qualifications / experience and in line with Public Sector Pay Policy (€43,425 to €103,582 per annum).
