Role Overview
Clinical Nurse Manager II - Day Ward at UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic, Dublin.
Job type: Permanent.
Responsibilities
Lead by example and ensure proactive, patient-centred care delivered to a consistently high standard, following policies and guidelines.
Manage the efficiency of the Day Ward, lead and develop team members, monitor quality standards.
Develop strategies and service goals for the Day Ward with the Theatre Manager and other CNMs.
Provide professional leadership, facilitate team building, planned care, and quality improvement.
Support staff development, plan duty rosters ensuring adequate skill mix.
Communicate with Theatre Manager and other CNMs on all matters relating to the Day Ward; liaise with Nursing Administration regarding staffing and bank nurses.
Advocate and maintain open communication with Senior Nurse Management, multidisciplinary team, and non-clinical support staff.
Represent patient values and decisions; promote courteous attitude to colleagues, staff, relatives and visitors.
Maintain IT skills for electronic information transfer, assist Director of Nursing with complaints investigations.
Provide planned, individualised holistic care; complete assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, documentation.
Lead clinical audit, participate in development and evaluation of guidelines, policies, procedures.
Ensure safety: comply with Infection Control Policy, Data Protection Act, etc.
; report untoward incidents.
Maintain accurate reporting of near misses, incidents, complaints, and coordinate risk management.
Promote evidence-based practice and contribute to nursing research relevant to area of practice.
Ensure patient identification policy, safe custody of controlled drugs, and equipment checks.
Encourage self-care and wellness through patient education.
Support and participate in education and in-service programmes for all staff.
Work with Theatre Manager to ensure all staff annual appraisals are carried out.
Engage in professional development, attend in-service programmes, conferences, and committees.
Qualifications & Experience
Registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses (An Bord Altranais).
At least five years post-registration nursing experience in an acute hospital setting, with minimum three years recent relevant experience.
Management qualification or willingness to undertake one; previous management experience an advantage.
Well-developed leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Computer skills.
Orthopaedic experience.
