Social Care Worker
This role is part of the Child and Family Agency's efforts to improve services for children and families.
The successful candidate will work with vulnerable or dependent clients, individually or in groups, to provide care, protection, and support.
Key Responsibilities
Working with Children
* To develop and implement Care and Placement Plans, ensuring accurate recording.
* To promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person.
* To foster physical, emotional, social, and religious welfare of each young person.
* To facilitate school attendance, training, medical, and clinical appointments.
* To manage personal documents, arrangements, information, and finance on behalf of the young person.
* To liaise with parents, family, general services, and other agencies.
* To attend meetings regarding care and development.
* To engage in age-appropriate play and activities with children/young people.
* To use physical intervention and/or restraint as per local policies and procedures.
Household Activities
* To prepare and provide well-balanced meals in conjunction with the young people.
* To undertake aspects of home management, including budgeting, upkeep, and cleaning.
Administration and Accountability
* To attend team meetings and report on service delivery.
* To be accountable for money spent on behalf of the Child and Family Agency.
* To make regular written and verbal reports on young person progress.
* To record incidents, no matter how minor, affecting the young person or caused by them.
* To supervise students under Social Care Manager direction.
* To be familiar with emergency procedures and know who to contact.
* To work as part of a team.
* To stay up-to-date on current legislation and professional childcare knowledge.
* To implement Child and Family Agency procedures and policies.
* To undergo ongoing professional training and development.
* To attend regular supervision with the Social Care Leader/Manager.
* To perform assigned duties from time to time.
Health & Safety
* To comply with policies, procedures, guidelines, and safe practice, adhering to relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
* To have knowledge of HIQA Standards and Tusla protocols, implementing and maintaining these standards as appropriate.
* To support sustainable energy, water, and waste initiatives in creating a low-carbon health service.
