Our Pathology Unit is expanding, and we are looking for a positive team player to join our expert team in this pivotal role of veterinary pathologist.
About Us
The Irish Equine Centre (IEC) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to protect the health and wellbeing of Ireland's horse population through the provision of diagnostic laboratory services.
The IEC is an international centre of excellence in equine diagnostic services, applied research and in the provision of educational services to veterinarians, breeders and trainers.
The IEC has served as an integral part of the Irish horse industry for over 40 years, and we perform a pivotal role in protecting the industry against existing and emerging equine diseases.

Pathology At The IEC
The pathology team is led by Dr. Jill Bryan, an RCVS recognised specialist in equine pathology.
Our client base is a diverse community across the thoroughbred, sport and leisure horse sectors and covers the 32 counties of Ireland.
We have a busy equine diagnostic caseload which includes postmortem cases, equine surgical biopsy samples and equine cytology samples.
The Role
Your main responsibilities will include:
Performing gross postmortem examinations on equines and interpreting associated histopathology and ancillary diagnostic tests
Preparation of comprehensive postmortem reports
Analysis and reporting of equine surgical biopsy samples
Analysis and reporting of equine diagnostic cytology samples (training provided)
Communication with clients and stakeholders
Expanding and maintaining current specialised knowledge in the field of equine pathology
Essential Requirements
A veterinary degree registerable with the Veterinary Council of Ireland
Eligibility to work in Ireland
Excellent spoken and written English
Postgraduate veterinary pathology training (e.g. residency or veterinary diagnostic laboratory experience).
We will consider candidates who are still in the process of completing residency training in veterinary pathology or those without post graduate qualifications but with relevant skills in the area
Highly Desirable
A specialist qualification in veterinary pathology such as DipACVP, DipECVP or FRCPath
