Location: Limerick
Contract: Full-time, 1 Year-Fixed Term
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
The purpose of this role is to provide a support service within Limerick City and County Council Limerick Homeless Action Team, whereby clients can access advice and information regarding their eligibility for emergency homeless services.
What You Will Do
1. Make and take appointments, interview, and assess clients seeking homeless services by appointment or unscheduled presentations at the public counter in Limerick City and County Council Limerick Homeless Action Team.
2. Provide assessment and advice to people who are homeless.
3. Participate in the Homeless Action Team where necessary.
4. Assist clients in sourcing suitable private rented accommodation.
5. Work with clients in emergency facilities to secure long-term accommodation and avoid continued placement in emergency facilities.
6. Assist clients in settling into accommodation and ensure they are fully briefed on services available from external agencies.
7. Receive and act upon referrals via the interdisciplinary referral protocol.
8. Assist eligible persons for social housing with information and assistance in presenting applications.
9. Investigate cases thoroughly, maintaining links with authorities, Gardaí, CWO's, etc.
10. Increase access to health and social services for those experiencing homelessness.
11. Create and maintain client files and records.
12. Provide monthly reports on caseload and move-on plans to the Coordinator.
13. Work with a client-centered approach, encouraging autonomy and independence.
14. Establish links with local services and community groups, working closely with housing providers where appropriate.
15. Manage an allocated caseload, adhering to Care and Case Management protocols.
16. Respond appropriately to child protection and welfare concerns.
17. Liaise and work effectively with team members in relation to organisational procedures and policies.
18. Follow policies including Customer Complaints, Health and Safety, and Personnel Policies.
19. Work under supervision within the team and participate in regular supervision sessions.
20. Familiarize with and comply with all relevant policies, including Child Protection and Confidentiality.
21. Maintain accurate records and statistics per policy.
22. Be vigilant about health, safety, and welfare risks, reporting concerns accordingly.
23. Attend and contribute to team and agency meetings as required.
24. Participate in training and development courses as agreed with the Coordinator.
25. Undertake other duties as reasonably assigned in consultation with the Coordinator.
What You Will Need
1. A relevant third-level qualification at degree level (e.g., social care, psychology, sociology).
2. Experience in a social care setting.
3. Experience with child protection and welfare responsibilities.
4. Experience in assessments, including risk assessments.
5. Experience in developing support plans and reviews.
6. Ability to handle challenging behaviour.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Flexibility in the role.
9. Willingness to develop professionally through supervision.
10. Advocacy experience for similar client groups (Desirable).
11. Report writing skills (Desirable).
12. IT skills (Desirable).
