Our client is looking for a Deputy Head of Underwriting to join its team. This opportunity is part of its succession planning strategy and supports its ambitious growth plans.
Head of Underwriting
Salary – 100,000 Euro
Responsibilities:
1. Portfolio management responsibility for the Casualty & SME portfolio’s including holding profit and loss responsibility.
2. Develops, leads and implements the Casualty business strategy and drives profitable growth.
3. Supports in delivery of the SME business strategy in conjunction with the Head of SME.
4. Working with the Business Lines Transformation Project Team and supporting the Head of SME, on the design and implementation of our new technology platform.
5. Development of products, propositions and technical skills to support them.
6. Works closely with Sales & Distribution, Market Facing Underwriters and Claims and Actuarial to enable the achievement of business plans.
7. Demonstrate specialised knowledge and expertise in products and industry and lead projects to develop technical standards, controls and practices for areas of expertise.
8. Drive initiatives and action plans.
9. Active engagement with customers, business partners and influence of trade and industry groups, ensuring a strong external leadership profile for the individual and the Company.
Requirements:
* Ideally the candidate will have at least 10 years at a senior management level working across a Casualty or SME portfolio.
* Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge and skills reflective of a seasoned practitioner who has progressed within underwriting positions of increasing responsibility.
* Has a high level of UW authority and involved in trade and industry bodies for area of specialism.
* Excellent knowledge of UW concepts and principles and UW metrics.
* Demonstrate the tools and techniques for portfolio management.
* Strong analytical skills and decision-making ability.
* Ability to work to strict deadlines and ambitious targets.
