Medical secretary required for busy GP surgery in East Cork.
The Medical secretary pays a vital role in healthcare settings, ensuring the smooth operation of the surgery. The position involves a combination of clerical duties, patient communication and coordination with medical staff. You will be the first point of contact for patients and must provide professional, efficient and compassionate service.
Key responsibilities Include:
* Greeting and assisting patients in person and over the phone in a courteous and professional manner
* Schedule and confirm appointments and follow ups
* Maintain and update patient records in accordance with confidentiality regulations (GDPR)
* Prepare and manage correspondence, medical reports, and documentation.
* Handle billing and payments.
* Coordinate with Doctors, Nurses and other healthcare professionals for a smooth patient flow and administrative operations.
* Process incoming and outgoing mail and email correspondence.
* Ensure compliance with Surgery protocols and procedures.
Required skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a medical secretary, administrative assistant or in a similar role in a healthcare setting is desired.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and medical software (Socrates).
* Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Certification in medical office administration or Medical secretarial studies.
* Experience with scheduling software.
